MAGMA Parent Company Acquires FLOW-3D Subsidiary
The casting simulation analysis software is applied to the simulation of mold manufacturing and casting process in the casting and die-casting industry, which can shorten the product development cycle, improve production efficiency, reduce trial and error costs, and improve business efficiency. MAGMASOFT® and FLOW-3D CAST® are the international mainstream casting simulation analysis software. The merger will bring the two major series of products of MAGMA and FlowScience to Dr.Flender Holding Group, which will be able to form a synergistic effect and play the role of "1+1>2".
Aachen, Germany - Santa Fe, NM, USA, Dr.FlenderHolding GmbH (Dr.Flender Holding Group), owner of MAGMA Giessereitechnologie GmbH (Magma Germany) and SIGMA Engineering GmbH (SIGMA Germany), acquired in December 2021 100% of the shares of Flow Science Corporation in the United States.
Flow Science, developer of the FLOW-3D® family of products, is a globally recognized and successful provider of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solutions for a variety of engineering applications. With its wide range of products and services, Flow Science continues to be part of the Dr. Flender holding group and operates independently. This acquisition will not affect Flow Science employees and customers. All management and employees of Flow Science remain with the company under the leadership of the current CEO, Dr. Amir Isfahani. Flow Science customers will not see any changes or disruptions to their products, licensing or workflow.
“At the heart of this M&A agreement are our people, our customers and our technology. This acquisition not only allows us to maintain what we value most, but also provides us with an Continued collaboration within the global company, and now within the team organization of MAGMA and SIGMA, expands our market share and accelerates our company's growth," said Dr. Amir Isfahani. "Our customers can see an expanded product development pipeline, as well as the best-in-class technical support services we've always strived to provide."
Overall, there is great synergy potential between group companies, especially in product development, marketing and distribution. Continued and targeted improvements to the existing product portfolio, as well as the development of new products through an expanded team of experts, are at the heart of the acquisition strategy.
Dr. Erwin Flender (owner of Dr. Flender Holding Group) said: "Flow Science has impressed us as one of the pioneers in the CFD industry for more than 40 years with the innovations they have brought to the market and raised the level of competition. "For us, this acquisition strengthens our position in the market and opens new doors for us in other markets and applications."
Flow Science Corporation, located in Santa Fe, NM, USA, was founded in 1980 by Dr. C.W. (Tony) Hirt, one of the original developers of the VOF (Volume of Fluid) method. This method is extended and refined to TruVOF® technology in FLOW-3D, with cutting-edge and breakthrough improvements in speed and accuracy when simulating flow at different liquid and gas interfaces. Today, Flow Science products provide a complete multiphysics solution with multiple modeling capabilities, including fluid structure interactions, moving objects, and multiphase flow. Flow Science's products and services enable clients around the world to solve their toughest CFD problems.
MAGMA Giessereitechnology GmbH was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Aachen, Germany. MAGMA is the world's leading supplier of MAGMASOFT® products for the simulation and virtual optimization of casting and metallurgical processes. MAGMA products are used for robust design and optimization of castings. Globally, customers have access to expert support, including project services and a wide range of training courses, workshops and seminars offered by the MAGMAacademy (training academy).
SIGMA Engineering GmbH has been improving and optimizing injection molding processes for 23 years with its simulation solution SIGMASOFT®Virtual molding. It can develop and optimize plastic components and molds by considering the entire process. SIGMASOFT® integrates a large number of process-specific models and 3D simulation technologies, which are continuously developed, validated and optimized. In this way, high-performance products and cost-effective, resource-saving products can be realized right from the first article. SIGMA provides its customers with similar support to MAGMA and offers special solution services.
With the acquisition of Flow Science, Inc., Dr. Flender Holding Group employs a total of 320 people worldwide. Its product portfolio now covers a wide range of applications and industries. This includes metal casting and metallurgical processes, civil and environmental, aerospace, automotive, additive manufacturing, laser welding, microfluidics and biofluids, plastics, consumer products, electronics and chip manufacturing, maritime and energy.
